The NCRTC has planned to develop Jangpura Station on the Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor as a major transit hub with space for residential, commercial and office complexes, and other facilities for which a detailed plan will be drawn up.

Previously, the NCRTC issued a tender to appoint a consultant to prepare an influence area plan for Jangpura to be developed as a Transit Oriented Development (TOD) node. Essentially, this will be to ensure seamless connectivity with other modes of transport, including last mile connectivity, pedestrian zone, parking provision, street furniture, street vending areas and others. The proposed station and stabling yard will be integrated.

Last year, the NCRTC decided to extend its Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor, which was to start at Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi, to Jangpura. According to the original plan, Sarai Kale Khan, New Ashok Nagar and Anand Vihar were Delhi’s only three stations on the corridor, as well as a stable with a maintenance facility at Jangpura. A garage yard is a place where trains are parked before their next trip.

Apart from the parking station, Jungpura Station will also have an operation control center to monitor and control the time-limited operation of trains on the three corridors. Apart from the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor, the NCRTC will also construct the Delhi-Gurugram-SNB and Delhi-Panipat RRTS corridors.
