Lone Star College paves the way for students to achieve their academic goals by providing educational opportunities such as associate degrees, workforce programs, transfer credits, continuing education courses, and four bachelor’s degree programs. Registration for the Winter 2022 and Spring 2023 mini-term is now open.
To help students fund their education, LSC will host a financial aid and lemonade event at seven campuses on October 22 at noon. Financial aid counselors will help applicants complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or an Application for Texas State Financial Aid (TASFA). They will also guide applicants to make the best financial decisions based on their individual needs.
“Our knowledgeable staff members will be available to answer any questions and guide students and their families through the financial aid process,” said Shannon Venezia, Ph.D., Senior Associate Vice Chancellor of the financial assistance from LSC.
LSC offers various financial aid options such as loans, work-study programs, grants, scholarships, and relief funds. To complete a FAFSA or TASFA application, which takes less than an hour, students should be prepared to bring:
- Social Security number
- Alien registration number (if you are not a US citizen)
- Federal tax returns and related files
- FSA ID (username and password)
- Bank statements, investment statements and untaxed income information, if applicable.
“Many students and families may not want to discuss financial aid or are afraid to contact us. However, we are here to help them,” said Venezia. “We want students to have access to available funds to make their education as affordable as possible.”
During the financial aid and lemonade event, participants will be able to enjoy lemonade and snacks and have a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card. Visit LoneStar.edu/Lemonade to register and find the event closest to you. The spring financial aid priority deadline is November 1.
