Central Louisiana Technical Community College (CLTCC) will host an MJ Foster Promise launch across all eight campuses beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 25. Although all eight CLTCC campuses are hosting this launch event, MJ Foster Promise applications are now being accepted for the fall semester. rewards.

This event is organized in collaboration with the colleges of the Louisiana Community & Technical College System (LCTCS). “The CLTCC is very excited about this tremendous financial aid opportunity,” said CLTCC Chancellor Dr. Jimmy Sawtelle.

“The MJ Foster Promise Program offers a unique new funding option for students pursuing degrees and diplomas, as well as support for students working to obtain essential career training, such as nursing, manufacturing, allied health and even short-term degrees such as Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). This “last dollar” financial assistance program is specifically intended to help those who may not be covered by other financial assistance programs. »

Louisiana Community and Technical Colleges and two-year colleges offer scholarships under the MJ Foster Promise Program for workforce training and adult degree courses. The new $10.5 million annual state fund program is open to Louisiana residents age 21 and older and can provide funding for up to three years at Louisiana’s two-year public post-secondary institutions. . Applicants must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as well as the MJ Foster Promise Application. There are household income limits and other requirements. Scholarships are for tuition and fees only. Students may be eligible for up to $3,200 per year for academic programs with a maximum lifetime scholarship cap of $6,400. Funds will be awarded to eligible applicants on a first-come, first-served basis, with the program’s maximum annual award capped at $10.5 million statewide. CLTCC programs eligible for MJ Foster Promise funding include: Advanced Manufacturing Technician; Cloud computing; Commercial Driver’s License (CDL); Drawing and design technology; Heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration technician; Forklift operator; Nursing – Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN); Patient Care Technician; and welding.

“Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis, so we strongly encourage eligible students to apply to the program now for the opportunity to receive scholarships for the fall semester,” Sawtelle said. “This financial support program makes education and training more affordable, enabling more people to transform their lives by learning the skills they need to get high-paying, high-demand jobs to create a better future for them. themselves and their families.”
